“C

herry, Cherry, quite contrary,” Bishop Money turned. The round black silencer was larger than the nickel plated .380 hand gun pointed at her forehead. “Cut off anyone’s balls lately?”

“No, I’m still looking for yours, but since you have the same thing as I do, I guess I’m S-O-L.” She smiled, not even fazed by the bishop dressed in drag. “I wonder if you can drop me before I can send one or both of these flying though your neck,” she said, referring to the scalpels she carried in both hands.

Not taking his eyes off her, he said, “See you have your operating tools with you. Surely you weren’t going to castrate my right-hand man?”

He could have easily killed me if he wanted, but I was still breathing. Why?“I don’t carry unless I plan to use,” she said.

She’s a fugitive. If I let her take out Wiley, then it will only make my popularity grow. I bet killing a bishop will shut all her Facebook fans and them One-Free, Black Panther wannabe’s up. And then, I think I will tap that tail one more time while I’m cutting her open with her own scalpel. That is after I capture her. “I guess we have a Mexican standoff.” He began walking toward the door.

Cherry began backing toward Bishop Wiley’s bed.

“I know you’re not going to do anything to Bishop Wiley because I’ve seen you.”

Bishop Wiley’s eyes became cartoon-like. “Don’t leave me with her?”

“Shhhh.” She held a scalpel to her lips. “You’ll be dead before that scream gets out your throat,” she said as Bishop Money disappeared through the door.

“Please! Please!” Bishop Wiley held his hands out.

“With friends like that, I’d start hanging out with my enemies.” She bent down close to his face. She gently ran the scalpel from the corner of his eye down to his lips. “If I wanted you dead, you’d be a memory. TJ knows that as well as you do. Anytime I choose, I can put my blade on you. I’m giving you a chance to do the right thing. I’m also giving you the chance to die doing the wrong thing. I’ll be in touch,” she said hurrying out of the room and toward the elevator.

Bishop Money had been off the elevator for a few minutes talking to the head of hospital security.

“I ain’t gon’ lie. I ain’t even gon’ try. Gull, you is sweet as a sugar cube, dipped in honey,” Leroy Brown said looking at a wall but speaking to Bishop Money. “What color dat is?” he said, touching the air, instead of Bishop Money’s dress. “That’s, that , uh” the cross-eyed, bat-blind man, snapped his fingers, “what you gull’s call it?”

“Red,” Bishop Money said. “Look, Leroy, we have a situation. There’s a woman disguised as a doctor on the fourth floor. She’s armed and dangerous.”

Leroy put his hands to his sides and spread his legs. He wiggled his fingers and cracked his neck.

“This is serious. You have to stop her before she hurts one of the patients.
